Employee Health Assessment

When operated appropriately, the outputs of an employee health assessment can also ensure that an employee is not treated unfairly where their comparative performance might be affected by a condition such as dyslexia.

Maternity Risk Assessment
Along with a requirement to assess the risks associated with the work activities undertaken by all employees, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (and other Regulations) expect employers to take additional care for any worker who may be pregnant. The Praxis42 Maternity Risk Assessment (MRA) helps to ensure that the health of pregnant employees, and that of their babies, is protected from any special risks present in the workplace.
Once the employee has let you know that she is pregnant, your processes should trigger an MRA. Because of the confidential and specialised nature of health information relevant to pregnancy, the MRA should be undertaken by an Occupational Health Adviser or an individual who is similarly qualified. It may be necessary to repeat the MRA as the pregnancy develops.

Lone Worker Health Assessment
Along with a requirement to assess the risks associated with the work activities undertaken by all employees, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (and other Regulations) expect employers to take particular care for those of their employees that work alone. The Praxis42 Lone Worker Risk Assessment (LWHA) helps to ensure that the physical and mental health of lone workers is adequately protected from any special risks posed by being alone at work.
An employee should be offered an LWHA before they start lone working and this offer should then be repeated every following year. Employers will also need to offer a repeat assessment to any of their lone workers whose health status has changed since their last assessment, for example where a new health condition has developed or a change in medication has been agreed.

Night Worker Health Assessment
The Working Time Regulations require employers to offer a free health assessment to any worker who works at night, where “night” is defined as being between the hours of 11pm and 6am. The Praxis42 Night Worker Health Assessment (NWHA) helps to ensure that employees working at night are fit to perform their role and that the night work they undertake will not trigger a new health issue, or exacerbate any existing health condition.
An employee should be offered a NWHA before they start night work and this offer should then be repeated every following year. Employers will also need to offer a repeat assessment to any of their night workers whose health status has changed since their last assessment, for example where a new health condition has developed or a change in medication has been agreed.
