Conflict Management

In one year there were approximately 685,000 incidents of workplace violence comprising of 288,000 assaults and 397,000 threats of violence. Workers identified as most at risk are those in the transport, health, retail and hospitality sector. Worryingly a survey showed that 1 in 5 workers in these sectors thought it very or fairly likely that they would be threatened at work! How dreadful that must feel going out each day expecting to experience some form of violence.

The Health and Safety Executive defines work-related violence as:

‘Any incident in which a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work.’ Typical examples of what would meet this definition also include abusive language, threats and intimidation, physical violence and harassment.

Employers obviously have some duties in regards violence at work and in response to customer requests Praxis42 has developed a Conflict Management course to help employees understand how to reduce the risk, manage conflict situations, take precautions relating to their personal safety and find successful outcomes in difficult situations.
